The IC-8 Apthera IOL is the first small aperture presbyopia correcting lens available to cataract patients. It is a form of an Extended Depth of Focus Lens that bends light rays to allow them to focus on the back surface of the eye.
What is a Small Aperture Lens?
How does the technology of the lens work?
The IC-8 Apthera IOL is embedded with a FilterRingTM that filters out peripheral, distorted, and aberrated low optical-quality light and delivers high optical-quality light to the retina. It removes low-quality light to provide a clear, extended range of vision at a distance and near.
Who is a good candidate?
If you are motivated to reduce your reliance on glasses and/or contacts after cataract surgery, the Extended Depth of Focus lens is a good option for you.
While the Apthera IC-8 lens offers a great range of vision, we still recommend the use of glasses for prolonged activities in the near range such as sustained work with fine print and reading a book.
